COMPANY FOUNDATION

1924

UIS Insurance & Investments was originally established in Tiffin in 1924 by Scott Garrett, with Rex Felton, Sr. joining the firm in 1928.

DRIVING GROWTH

1950's

William (Bill) C. Felton began his insurance career with the agency in 1950. Bill Felton became the driving force behind the growth of the property & casualty agency through the 50’s and well into the 90’s.

UNITED INSURANCE SERVICE

1966

The agency was incorporated as United Insurance Service in 1966.

NEW OFFICE

1982

In 1982, the office was moved to its present location at 51 South Washington Street in Tiffin, Ohio.

REORGANIZATION

1984

UIS went through a reorganization in 1984, with the purchase of the agency by Bill from his four partners. Michael (Mitch) Felton and Brian Smith joined UIS that year, with John Kobelt and Chuck Ritzler joining the organization in 1986.

REBRANDING

2014

United Insurance Service rebranded to UIS Insurance & Investments. The rebranding helped to better communicate the full range of insurance and investment services offered by UIS.

UIS CARES

2018

In 2018, UIS launched the "UIS Cares" initiative to help support causes and organizations in the many communities UIS serves.

100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

2024

A century ago, our founders
embarked on a mission to build a company that would stand the test of time, and today, we proudly carry forward their legacy. Serving our communities has been, and always will be, our driving force.

Agency Acquisition Timeline

Through numerous agency acquisitions and through a growing book of referred clients, UIS is seen as one of the fastest growing agencies in Northwest Ohio.

The convenient community-based offices allow UIS to maintain that “Main Street” home- town touch while being backed by professionals who make it their passion to specialize in a chosen insurance or investment field. If an expert is needed in a line of business, most likely UIS has the right person to assist with accomplishing the ultimate goal, “the protection of your livelihood and your most precious assets”
